Weathervane Playhouse Workshop: Intro. to Theatrical Arts and Crafts

Intro to Theatrical Arts and Crafts Grades 6th-12th

April 14, 16, 18, 21, 23, 25 4:30pm - 6:00pm

Participants will be introduced to the various arts and crafts of theatre production and performance. Activities include:

a backstage tour of the theatre and intro to theater jobs
overview of play production (from play selection through strike)
audition skills and simulated audition
how to develop a character
pre-rehearsal vocal warm-ups and physical exercises
improvisation exercises
viewing play excerpts with discussion on production and acting
stage combat (hand to hand) workshop

Topics and activities may vary depending upon enrollment number and group composition.

*Participants should be at a beginner level. An objective of the workshop is to encourage young people to become involved theatre, not to fine tune those already heavily involved. The instructor's goal is to cultivate some NEW light, sound, costume designers and more!
