The Reporting Project is a non-profit news source for in-depth articles that cover local news written by Denison journalism students and faculty. "We focus on nonfiction storytelling that is about our place, our part of the "missing Middle" of the country - its people, politics, culture, health, science and environment, and more," says Jack Shuler, an author and professor of English and journalism at Denison.
Speakers will share the history of The Reporting Project – which launched in 2020 – and how it has grown and changed over the years. They will discuss how their coverage of local news has developed, partnerships they’ve established with community organizations, coverage of the recent election, and their goals for the future of TRP. Also, several students will share how TRP has influenced their college career as well as some of the stories they’ve published.
