Part 4 of the Four Seasons Garden Series will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 9
The Summer Garden program of the always popular Four Seasons Garden Series will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 9 at the historic Bryn Du Mansion, 537 Jones Road, Granville.
At 6 p.m., the ancient art and science of creating sculptures in the form of topiary is examined through the lens of our very own Topiary Garden in Columbus. Topiary Park is the only known topiary representation of a painting. The painting, an impressionist painting which is part of the collection of The Art Institute of Chicago, “comes to life” at Topiary Garden with human figures, boats and animals made of yew, some 12 feet tall. Learn the basic types of topiary, the history of Topiary Park, and how this rare gem came to be created in central Ohio.
At 7 p.m., horticultural experts Katrina Pendrey and Greg Lawrence of Wilson’s Garden Center will present a much anticipated talk about new rose varieties for 2016. In addition to seeing first-hand some of the spectacular new rose varieties available this year, the audience will learn about classifications of roses and how to plant and care for them in our area to enjoy abundant blooms.
The Summer Garden program is free, open to the public, and made possible through the generous support of the Bryn Du Mansion Life/Local Series, Park National Bank, Pinkerton Real Estate Services, Kendal at Granville, and the Granville Inn.
