Denison: What is Time?

Denison University?s Department of Philosophy presents a Philosophy Coffee, titled ?What is Time?? at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, in the Shepardson Room of Slayter Hall (200 Ridge Road). The questions we ask about time, however, are determined by the larger philosophical endeavors motivating them. The notion of temporal context is relevant to epistemological discussions, theories of personal identity have to acknowledge time's impact, and the inclusion of time as an object of study is common practice in metaphysics. Given time's myriad attachments, any discussion of time is best orchestrated by invoking the reasons we wonder about time in the first place. Why, and when, does time matter? With the answer (or answers) to this question in mind, we can go about addressing our more general question: What is time?
