Denison University Theatre continues its season with Shakespeare?s ?Richard III.? The play will open at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 26 and 27, in Ace Morgan Theatre (211 College Drive), and continues at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28. The following week, Wednesday through Saturday, March 2 to 5, ?Richard III? will be performed at 8 p.m. Tickets are $8 for general admission, $5 for senior citizens, and $4 for students. For information, visit Denison.edu and for reservations, contact the box office at 740-587-6527. Directing the production is Geoffrey Nelson, visiting professor of theatre. ?Shakespeare?s Richard has been the ultimate stage villain for more than four centuries,? he says, ?and is as popular today as he was with the Elizabethans.? The play chronicles Richard?s dramatic rise and fall, nothing and no one can stand in his way. He states that he?s ?determined to prove a villain? and then proceeds to do just that. Suave and manipulative, witty and smart, flamboyant and ruthless, even courageous, he lies, flatters, bribes, seduces, extorts, and murders his way to the crown of England. Matthew Harmon, senior theatre major, has been cast as Richard. Others in the cast, some playing multiple roles, are seniors Justin Bean and Kyle Gasaway; juniors Logan Creasman, Shannon McDavid, Heather Grimm, Jabari Johnson and Cole Stern; sophomores Madeline Grisaru, Peter Malicky, Katherine Landoll, Cole Shaler and Robert Templehof; and first-year students Evan Joslyn, Megan Odell, Diego Rubey and Boone Wilde. Scenic designer is senior theatre major Jeremy Hollis. Vail Artists-in-Residence for the production are Elizabeth Bourgeois, costume designer; Mandy Fox, vocal coach; and Brian Evans, fight choreographer. Visiting professor Brant Murray designed the lighting, assisted by Denison senior Ying Huo. Technical director Andrew Johns is the sound designer. Sophomore Casey Parker is the stage manager and junior Cole Stern is the dramaturg. Nelson has cast two young actors from Columbus to play the doomed Princes in the Tower: Nicolas Brunet as Prince of York and Kevin Colgan as Prince Edward.
