Denison: Trends in Global Agriculture

Denison University's Environmental Studies Program welcomes Michael Stern, a member of the Denison class of 1983, vice president of Monsanto, presenting 'Trends in Global Agriculture: Challenge and Opportunities' at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, in the lecture hall of Denison's Burton D. Stern is the vice president of the Americas for Monsanto, and newly appointed as CEO of the Climate Corporation. Under his leadership, this new Monsanto company aims to help farmers around the world protect and improve their productivity through precision agriculture systems and solutions. Stern holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Denison University, a Master of Science in Chemistry from University of Michigan, and Doctorate in Chemistry from Princeton University. Additionally, he served as a Postdoctoral Associate with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Stern is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Missouri Botanical Garden, has received the Monsanto Thomas and Hochwalt Science and Technology Award, the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award, and is a Monsanto Distinguished Science Fellow, as well as author and inventor of more than 50 scientific publications and U.S. patents related to agricultural technology.
