The Denison University Theatre season will close with "I Am Jonathan," a new work created by an ensemble of Denison theatre students in collaboration with members of Available Light Theatre (AVLT), based in Columbus, Ohio. The play will be directed by AVLT company member Eleni Papaleonardos and it will be performed at 8 p.m. from Wednesday, April 22, through Saturday, April 25, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 26. Tickets are $8 for general admission, $5 for senior citizens, and $4 for students. For information, visit denison.edu and for reservations, contact the box office at 740-587-6527. The production was sparked by a series of workshops conducted last fall by Matt Slaybaugh, Artistic Director of AVLT, and Papaleonardos. These culminated in an audition from which eight students were selected to complete the ensemble. Throughout the spring semester, these ten people have worked to form a unique production reflecting the contributions of all the ensemble members. ?It?s been a privilege to help this group of students channel their concerns into a fully realized theatrical production,? Slaybaugh said. ?Having such a long collaboration has allowed us to make a play that is a very specific reflection of this group of people and their lives at this moment in time. We?ve gotten to see the world through their eyes, and to participate in putting that vision on stage.? Students in the ensemble are seniors Jennifer Beck from Olmsted Falls, Ohio, and Emma Skorepa from Medina, Ohio; junior Dyamone Hopkins form Oak Lawn, Ill,: sophomores Meghan McGuire from Brunswick, Maine ,Cole Stern from Ogden, Utah and Nick van Atta from Powell, Ohio; and first year students Griffin Baer from Holland, Mich. and Robert Templehof from Chelsea, Mass. Theatre associate professor Peter Pauzé is the scenic designer and theatre alumnus Jordan Fehr, an AVLT company member, is designed the sound. The lighting designer is junior Ying Huo from Xi?an, China and the costume designer is senior Erin White from Hampton, Conn.
