A community favorite, the sixteenth annual ?Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols? will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13, in Denison University?s Swasey Chapel (200 Chapel Drive). The service is free and open to the public, for more information, contact Kim West at 740-587-5727 or visit Denison.edu. Jointly sponsored by The Open House: Center for Religious and Spiritual Life and the Department of Music, the service was inaugurated in 2000 and is now a seasonal, Christmas celebration both for the university and local communities. Preceded by a week of carols from the tower bells, the service will include a procession, biblical readings and congregational carols. A Lessons and Carols Choir, comprised of students studying in the music department, will perform special music. University Chaplain Mark R. Orten and Kevin N. Wines, liturgist and conductor, will preside at the service. Scott Hayes, organist at St. Luke?s Episcopal Church in Granville, will provide accompaniment.
