A community favorite, Denison University’s “Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols” will hold its 17th annual performance at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11, at Swasey Chapel (200 Chapel Drive). Jointly sponsored by the Center for Religious and Spiritual Life and the Department of Music, the service was inaugurated in 2000 and is now a Christmas celebration and tradition for both the university and local communities. Preceded by a week of carols from the tower bells, the service will include a procession, biblical readings and congregational carols. The Chamber Choir, comprised of students studying in the music department, will perform special music along with Tehillah and the Hilltoppers, two of Denison’s a capella student groups. Associate Chaplains Phoebe Myhrum ’11 and Gregory E. Kendrick Jr ’10, and Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities Wei Cheng will preside at the service.
