Denison University's Titus-Hepp Lecture Series welcomes Yang Xiao presenting a lecture, "Beyond Nature and Culture: Ecological Ethics in Chinese Philosophy" at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, in room 210 of the Samson Talbot Hall (350 Ridge Road). The lecture is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Kate Tull at 740-587-6387 or visit Denison.edu. Xiao will argue that we have not adequately understood the famous debate regarding whether human nature is good. He will explore an ecological approach in ethics that does not assume a dualism of nature and culture. He also will explore its implications for climate change, the most urgent ecological crisis of our time. Xiao is professor of philosophy at Kenyon College. He is currently president of the International Society for Comparative Studies of Chinese and Western Philosophy.
