With Virginia H. Cope, PhD, Associate Dean, OSU-N and Associate Professor, English, The Ohio State University A new, very odd London statue meant to celebrate the famed feminist philosopher Mary Wollstonecraft has been greeted with derision. This talk places Wollstonecraft's philosophy in the context of her daring life (1759-1797) and considers the irony of the controversial statue, in keeping with her life's cycle: For every obstacle overcome, Wollstonecraft suffered a dramatic reversal.
